Another 100 on Hill and New Perspectives: My 365, of 2010

Wow, with another year behind us it’s getting hard to believe the pace of life these days.  I'm proud to say that in 5 of the last 6 years of my life I have spent over 100 days out of each year sitting on chairlifts, touring and hiking for pow and chilling with some of my favorite people ever, in the mountains skiing and snowboarding.  The last 352 days have been spent at Mt Bachelor, Hoodoo and Mt Hood.  Filming, riding pow, tuning skis and being with my friends have kept me on snow on a regular basis and healthy.

One of my favorite edits, shot in a single day of hot laps with some of the guys I gotten to film with on a regular basis for a couple seasons now.  I think this is the only park edit I was in front of the lens for (except the last one, where i got knocked out).  The best parts about this edit is the fact that we filmed the whole thing in a single day, it was my first edit of 2010 and . . .  it was my birthday.

I've also had the opportunity to work with a very talented up a coming skateboarder here in Central Oregon.  I filmed with 8 year old James Stewart for 6 sessions to put together some raw footage for him to use as promo footage.  With all the footage I edited up this clip as a sample for my own portfolio and the Truck Stop Skate Park, here in Bend Oregon. James is definitely the future of skateboarding, super motivated, versatile in his skating and a perfectionist (yea at 8 years old).  He skates transitions fast and with style, while charging on the street as well.  James would show up to the sessions with a trick list in mind and just go to work, there was one trick that James tried well over 80 (probably a low-ball guess) times over 2 sessions to no avail, but he got up time after time and never came away empty handed.

2011 is coming, I will conclude my 7 year conquest through college academia (with a 3.1 GPA, a Bachelors in Tourism and Rec and over 600 days on snow), I'll have a business (tentatively)  and I'm going to have a new freaking camera in March.  Not sure if this will be my last edit of 2010 but here you go, I'll 'see ya in da mountains, eh?'

My new years resolution: to get after it, in all aspects of my life, and keep this blog up to date.  Thank you to everyone who has kept me motivated to succeed; my parents, girlfriend and friends.

The First of Many

Greetings friends:

This is really just a test of my blog but i wanted to start it off right.  Born and raised in Oregon, Colorado lover and Bend resident for over 3 years now, I've had ups and downs, tons of pow, late nights at Hoodoo, and met/lost some of the most amazing people ever.  As of recent, i have been focusing my efforts on producing promotional videos for events, companies and really any local interested.  This first clip i produced at the Wildfire Pottery Showcase in Bend a few weeks back.  Pete is an amazing artist/potter/professional/host and I like to think his innovation in his art is similar to the innovation i look for in media production.  Pete greeted me with open arms and this short segment does not do justice to his ability as an artist, but it was all time allotted for.  I hope this blog gives me a venue to showcase what i can do in various media aspects including print, cinematography, as an athlete, and through social media development and management . . . But most of all i hope you enjoy the life and times of yours truly . . . . . Within this blog you can check the ski report at Mt Bachelor, watch some local level skate/snow/MTB talent, recap events, hire a marketing/media entrepreneur (wink wink) and enjoy the products of my high paced, snow loving, behind the lens, lifestyle.  (Check out my links, portfolios and Facebook for updates!)

Either way, without further a-due, from Bend Oregon, owner and potter of Pottery by Peter,  Mr Pete Roussel
