I shot a guided mountain biking tour with my good friends at COG Wild last weekend. The group of 12 was made up of a a couple locals that lived around Oregon and a group 5 Canadians. They were treated to three days of single track ranging from high alpine loops to downhill shuttles, while putting in 15-30 miles a day lunch is provided and at the end of the day the crew was dropped at a different brewery for a tour, some beers and dinner.
Working with COG has been an awesome opportunity to explore my home state in a new fashion. Never had I been mtb'n on Mt Hood as my summers on Hood have been spent on the glacier since I was in middle school.
The shoot was a challenge in that I had never been on the trails (or scouted) so it was super run (literally) and gun. I biked to a couple spots but mostly hiked with my gear. Shot mostly 1080/60i with a little 720/30 just to play with. Edited/color corrected in Adobe Premiere CS5.

Recently I shot at The Happy Girls Half Marathon and 5k presented by Lay it Out Events in Bend Oregon. The beneficiary was The Kids Center of Bend, that is a treatment, evaluation and prevention center that works with victims of child abuse. Day one featured a vendor showcase and Little Kids run. Kids came to run, play and even do some yoga. Even the less than ideal (and non-typical) Memorial Day weather didn't stop the fun.
Day two brought sunny weather and a ton of "Happy Girls" out for the half marathon and 5k. I dodged traffic, bushwhacked through manzanita fields and circled the course than ran throughout Bends west side trail system. a big thanks to the crew at lay it Out for putting on the event and I definitely look forward to shooting more of their events in the future.
Last week I had my first opportunity to shoot some stock footage of Central Oregon nature and mountain biking with Sunriver Resort and COG Wild. Two mornings of sunrise shoots gave me a great set of footage and I am excited to show my proofs in the coming weeks. I also shot a bike tour with COG Wild in Sunriver and that video is nearly complete.
until next time,
Jim

Taking it to The Next Level . . . .
This spring/summer has been fantastic, sunshine in Monterey CA and feet of snow at Hood got me going. I traveled to Cali with the crew at Cog Wild Bike Shuttles to work/shred/film at Sea Otter. Got to see some friends, met some new friends and experienced Sea Otter to it's fullest.
I took on a lot this winter with a new position at Blackstrap Industries as their NW Sales Rep and Team manager. I got to shoot with some great talent, met new kids trying to push the sport and began developing our team to include some young up and comers, as well as established regional riders. Continuing with my seasonal webisode series "Bachelor Fun" I got to film with some guys that ive know for a few years and brought some new faces to the crew.
As far as my own production company (Green Slope Media) I shot a number of events: Bonezone Banked Slalom, Green LUck Pre-Funk, and the Happy Girls Half Marathon and 5k. included are a couple edits from those events, the HGHM is just the course preview as the final video has not been cut just yet.
Gonna have some new film projects coming out this year and some big announcements in the coming weeks.

The Winter of 2011
Wow, another season of deep pow, great friends, new opportunities and . . . graduating from college. Since my last entry I have been filming and editing a ton, with a group of great shreds. I have published a few Bachelor Fun Webisodes (9 produced in 2009/10). Bachelor Fun is a way I like to relax with filming and editing, never made a dime from it, but it's what i love to produce.
Green Slope Media has had a great season, filming athlete promos (Ravi Drugan: Ninkasi Brewing), covering a wide spectrum of events (rail jams, pottery showcases, comedy etc.) and even getting on snow a day or two (Bonezone Banked Slalom), filming and editing sporting events has always been my first passion.
I'm also still working at Visit Bend and will be down working at Sea Otter next week in Monterey CA. Ill be hanging out at the COG Wild tent, chatting Bend up as a bike destination for tourism. Hope to film some down there with the COG crew and enjoy the atmosphere. At Visit bend i was fortunate enough to work support with Pete Alport while shooting regional tourism destination commercials for 2011. Setting up zip lines, carrying (literally) a jib crane into the backcountry and learning a ton were daily operations and I really had my eyes opened to how a pro works in the field, thanks Pete!
My newest work has been writing for my good friend Jayson Badgley at Insight Skiing, I write about media producers in the snow sports industry. A new challenge and enjoyable way to work. Check out my article on oregon based media producers Cameron Fair and Tyler Roemer, as well as Jays freshest article from SIA (and our nect issue due out in a few months.
haha there is so much more going on in my life, but that's the highlight reel (in video form). I graduate in June from OSU with a BS in Tourism, I have been selling for Blackstrap Industries (BsBrand.com) and the summer looks to be promising in all aspects . . .
Much Love
